Ordering:

Orders can also be placed on the website: www.derryglenstud.ie
Orders submitted via the website will receive a response from Derryglen Stud Farm Ltd, via phone or email, to confirm that the order has been accepted and/or discuss any specifics. 

The mare’s name, UELN number and the complete address of the mare owner must be provided when ordering or picking up semen.

Collection / Delivery

Ideally, it is advised for clients to collect the semen at Derryglen Stud Farm Ltd, with
prior arrangement.
However, Derryglen Stud Farm Ltd can assist in arranging delivery of semen, which
will be discussed with you to find the most suitable service.

Payment Terms:

Ireland:

  • Booking fee must be paid before semen dispatched or collected
  • Remainder of the stud fee is due when the mare is confirmed in foal with a
    heartbeat


Outside of Ireland:

  • 100% of the stud fee must be paid before semen dispatched or collected

Each stud fee grants three attempts with semen on one named mare in one breeding season. Further semen will be charged at an additional cost.
All stud fees exclude shipping.
Cooling container’s must be returned – otherwise a charge of €20 each will be applied.


Embryo Transfer:

When first booking semen, please indicate whether the semen ordered will be used
for embryo flushing.

In the case of Embryo Transfer, if no embryo(s) are found, semen may be ordered
again (up to three cycles), provided a veterinary statement from the qualified vet or
embryo centre confirms a negative flush. For a fourth cycle, a new booking fee must
be paid.

If multiple embryos are flushed, the stud fee will be charged for every flushed-out
embryo, including frozen embryos.

The mare owner must provide Derryglen Stud Farm Ltd with a signed report from the
veterinarian or embryo transfer centre listing the number of flushes, the number of
successfully implanted embryos and the number of frozen embryos per mare. If the
embryo transfer is unsuccessful, this report counts as a barren statement.

ICSI:

If the mare owner intends to do an ICSI procedure, this must be requested from
Derryglen Stud Farm Ltd in advance. It will require a signed contract and payment in
advance for permission for one ICSI session.

No Foal:

Derryglen Stud Farm Ltd offer a “No Foal, Free Return” only, and will be provided in
the following circumstances:

  • Abortion or death of foal within 48 hours after birth, which is certified by a
    qualified vet in writing within 3 days of the incident.
  • If the mare is not in foal, which is certified by a qualified vet with a Barren
    Certificate (clearly identifying the mare) issued to Derryglen Stud Farm Ltd
    before 1st October 2025.

A “No Foal, Free Return” is available for the current season and the following
consecutive season, and it is only available provided that the payment terms have
been adhered to. If the stallion which was initially used is no longer available, a
substitute from our residential stallions will be made available.

Other:

Derryglen Stud Farm Ltd reserves the right to send 1 insemination dose per oestrus.

Derryglen Stud Farm Ltd accepts no liability for any loss, damage or costs incurred
where semen is unavailable or delayed.

The transport of the semen is entirely at the risk of the receiver.

Selling of any unused semen is forbidden.

Splitting, passing on and/or reselling a dose or straws is strictly prohibited.

Semen may only be used the mare which it was ordered for (unless otherwise
agreed by Derryglen Stud Farm Ltd).

Any attempted fraud by the mare owner results in a non-negotiable fine of €10,000
plus VAT, in addition to the stud fee owed.

If the payment term of an invoice is exceeded, Derryglen Stud Farm Ltd reserves the
right to charge reminder fees, penalty interest and possible collection costs, both
judicial and extrajudicial.

Derryglen Stud Farm Ltd reserves the right to amend its conditions and fees during
the breeding season without prior notice. The current conditions are always
published on the website.

By ordering and receiving semen, the mare owner acknowledges and fully agrees to
these terms, conditions, and fees.
