Ordering:

Semen can be ordered via:

Website orders are preferable to submit all relevant information. Orders submitted via the website will receive a response from Derryglen Stud, via phone or email, to confirm that the order has been accepted and/or discuss any specifics.

Collection / Delivery

Ideally, it is advised for clients to collect the semen at Derryglen Stud, with prior arrangement.
However, Derryglen Stud can assist in arranging delivery of semen, which will be discussed with you to find the most suitable service.

Payment Terms:

Ireland:

  • Booking fee must be paid before semen dispatched or collected
  • Remainder of the stud fee must be paid by the 31st October 2025


Outside of Ireland:

  • 100% of the stud fee must be paid before semen dispatched or collected


Embryo Transfer / ICSI:

  • Additional Stud fee is charged for every flushed-out embryo or for ICSI embryo obtained

Each stud fee grants three attempts with semen on one named mare in one breeding season. Further semen will be charged at an additional cost.

All stud fees exclude shipping, export certificates and VAT.

Cooling container’s must be returned – otherwise a charge of €20 each will be applied.

Refunds:

Ireland:

A refund of the stud fee already paid, less the booking deposit, will be provided in the following circumstances:

  • Abortion or death of foal within 48 hours after birth, which is certified by a qualified vet in writing within 3 days of the incident.
  • If the mare is not in foal, which is certified by a qualified vet with a Barren Certificate (clearly identifying the mare) issued to Derryglen Stud before 1st October 2025.
    • In the case of embryo transplantation, if the transplantation of the embryo was not successful, this will count as a not in foal declaration.


Outside of Ireland:

A refund of the stud fee already paid, less an administration fee of €300, will be provided in the following circumstances:

  • Abortion or death of foal within 48 hours after birth, which is certified by a qualified vet in writing within 3 days of the incident.
  • If the mare is not in foal, which is certified by a qualified vet with a Barren Certificate (clearly identifying the mare) issued to Derryglen Stud before 1st October 2025.
    • In the case of embryo transplantation, if the transplantation of the embryo was not successful, this will count as a not in foal declaration.

The refund is only provided assuming the payment terms have been adhered to.

Other:

Derryglen Stud reserves the right to send 1 insemination dose per oestrus.

Derryglen Stud accepts no liability for any loss, damage or costs incurred where semen is unavailable or delayed.

The transport of the semen is entirely at the risk of the receiver.

Selling of any unused semen is forbidden.

Splitting, passing on and/or reselling a dose or straws is strictly prohibited.

Semen may only be used the mare which it was ordered for (unless otherwise agreed by Derryglen Stud).
